Description of Activity / Disgrifiad o'r Weithgaredd

Creative work – "Marking Ladders" – Before starting the task, we discussed the question "What makes a good story?" and our previous studies of story writing, e.g. an opening paragraph, adjectives/comparisons, dialogue and a "Story Mountain" etc.

We created the achievement criteria with the children: (Marking Ladders).

Evaluation / Gwerthusiad

The pupils are becoming more aware of the process of assessing each other's work, but they need much more experience before they become fully confident with this method of working.

However, the fact that they are part of the process of setting achievement criteria has ensured some improvement in their written work.

The next step: Use Traffic Lights (which they already use in Mathematics) in order for them to express how happy/content they are with their level of attainment, noting what they need to do in order to improve/develop further.
