Approaches to and Forms of Training

Training will be flexible in terms of start date, duration, mode of work and evidence of competence. It will be individuated based on Training Needs and Action Plans.

The Programme Learning Cycle on the next page, and the details of the delivery attached to it, show how the following principles and imperatives inform the training design:

  • Maximum flexibility within operational and quality constraints
  • Highest quality and highest relevance of learning experience for the teacher
  • Highest level of application of learning in the classroom
  • Maximum opportunity for reflection on action, evaluation and sharing of practice
  • Maximum opportunity to celebrate success - the teacher's and his or her pupils'
  • Robustness of quality monitoring, so that feedback from all participants can inform improvements at all levels
  • Transparency of learning process and expectations, so that teachers can see the purpose and direction of their training
  • Highest levels of expectation from teachers-as-learners, so that development can take place efficiently
