of James IV and father of Mary Queen of Scots. James was known as "King
of the Commons" because he cared for his people and visited them in their
homes.
He died of a broken heart in 1542 following news of the defeat of his army by the forces of Henry VIII at Solway Moss.
His daughter, Mary, was only six days old when she became Queen of Scotland.
