Success Criteria – 2 Stars And A Wish
Description of Activity / Disgrifiad o'r Weithgaredd
Through a series of lessons while looking at examples of the text type, the class had created a list of criteria to help them create a successful piece of writing. The aim of this was to enable the children both to write and evaluate each others work in accordance with a clear list of targets.
Evaluation / Gwerthusiad
This was built up over a half term. Steps carried out were:
- Shared reading and text marking of a variety of models
- Modelled and shared writing
- Evaluating and editing
- Individual writing
- Peer assessment (2 Stars And A Wish)
How we think it went:
- Sharing reading gave the children confidence and the opportunity to read a range of texts. Even the lower ability readers were able to join in with words they knew.
- Modelled and shared writing allowed children to engage in text type and gain experience of writing without feeling isolated. Overall we felt it increased their confidence.
- Peer assessment allowed children to consolidate what they had learnt, share ideas and get tips off each other. Also gave ideas on how to improve their own work from seeing other work.
