Timing was suitable - all of the children managed to use the keyboard to write a word, a simple sentence or 2 sentences with adult support.

Most children learned to use the shift key to create a capital letter, used the space bar and used the full stop.

A few children learned how to edit the images and text and to create linked pages to make a book.

Most of the children were able to use the book and read the sentences and names. The children worked in pairs taking it in turns to use the mouse and reading the text together. Sometimes good and poor readers were together. Sometimes similar abilities were together.

When a colour printer is available, the book is to be printed out and laminated for class use as well.
