Flamepot.gif (7604 bytes)  Part AThe Play in Detail

METHOD

This part of the package breaks the play down into manageable chunks of work, so that you can plan your approach to the play as a whole more efficiently. You will find that for each act and scene of the play there is a plot summary with some comment on other features, followed by a number of questions. Your job is to re-read the act/scene in question, read through the summary and commentary, then answer the questions that follow. If you have recently read the play as a whole, you might want to go straight on to reading the material here and answering the questions

TIMINGS

Each set of questions in this part of the package should take around 20 minutes to answer, making the time for the whole part about ten hours not including re-reading of the act/scene in question. This might sound like a lot, but it will cover the whole of the play in quite some detail.

OBJECTIVES

When you have finished this part of the package, you will have:

explained the most important features of the plot;

discussed the way Shakespeare expresses the main themes of the play;

identified the main features of characterisation in the play;

discussed and evaluated the play as drama.
