The fourth wife of Henry VIII. This was the shortest of Henry's marriages, arranged to serve the needs of his foreign policy. The King was deceived by a flattering portrait of Anne and was disappointed with what he saw when she arrived in England in December 1539.

He went through with the marriage in January 1540, but found an excuse to end it in July after events in Europe had turned in his favour.
