he
sixth and last wife of Henry VIII, whom he married in July 1543. Already
twice married, Catherine was mature, intelligent and shrewd.
She managed
Henry's moods and temper better than any of his other wives and was very
kind to his children. She persuaded Henry to restore both Mary and Elizabeth
to the rank of Princess (and therefore into the line of succession after
Edward), and looked after the education of Edward and Elizabeth.
