Some people have campaigned for the Mumbles Railway to be restored. For example, the 'Mumbles Railway Society' was formed to promote interest in the line. There are arguments for and against restoration.

Plans to bring back the historic Mumbles Railway may have finally hit the end of the line.
A £20 million project has not been submitted in the bids for Millenium money. Mumbles Railway Society chairman, Mr. Tony Cottle said, "We are a bit upset. This isn't the end of the line for the railway. We are still in talks with a major company which may be interested."
