The debate about the development of the Riverside waste site, conducted largely through the columns of this newspaper, has highlighted the needs of a number of sections of this community. Each group seems to have some justification for their proposals. The council is now faced with the difficult task of deciding which is the most deserving and, as usual in these difficult times, they will be constrained by the likely costs of any proposals.
What is wrong with our society when money can be found to bribe politicians in other countries, but there's not enough to go round when there is a real need in our own community?
