The Senior Citizens

Prepare a two minute presentation for a public meeting which has been called to decide what is to be done with the waste ground. Your group would like the land to be used to develop improved accommodation and sheltered housing for the elderly.

Design and produce publicity materials to support your campaign, e.g. leaflets, posters, newspaper articles, petitions etc.

• Read the materials available.  Decide exactly how you would like the land to be used. Gather evidence to support your cause, but be aware of arguments from other groups.
• Call a meeting so that you can begin to plan your campaign. Assign jobs and responsibilities to other group members.
• Begin the design and production of campaign materials.
• Make contact with other groups to gather extra information.
• Plan and rehearse your presentation.
• Make your presentation to a board of councillors at a public meeting.
• Review your presentation with the group members and decide how it may have been improved.
