Addressing the Purpose and Key Requirements of Paragraphs 7 and 8

It is intended that paragraphs 7 and 8 of the specification documents will inform the delivery of the training to the extent that training will focus on the place and use of ICT in teaching and learning.

The focus on pedagogical skills, based on a Training Needs analysis, will ensure the following:

  • That account is taken of teachers' and schools' identified needs
  • That all primary school teachers cover ICT application in relation to the core subjects
  • That secondary school teachers cover ICT application in relation to their subject
  • That the combination of school-based training, centre based development opportunities, paper based resources and online materials and support will enable the teacher to focus on what he or she needs to develop in terms of ICT in the classroom
