This site has been created by the Behaviour Support Team to complement the work that schools do in providing a graduated response for those pupils who experience social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties.

Our aim is to provide schools and teachers with some strategies, which they should try for the most commonly referred difficulties and to encourage positive behaviour within our schools.

It is imperative that behaviour is seen here as a term which encompasses all that pupils do in the social context of school, both positive and negative, as opposed to discipline which provides sanctions for misdemeanours. It is also important to recognise that the context of the learning environment plays a significant part on any presenting behaviour.
