Part 1:
Preparing to Use ICT in Teaching
a.
Aims and Objectives
The
teacher's aim for the sake of this case study is to develop learners'
ability to discuss different starting points for their independent
case study. In this case the learners are Year 11 pupils in a
mixed gender comprehensive school and they are preparing for the
developmental elements of their GCSE Art. Many of the learners
are considering progressing to A Level and other further qualifications,
so the teacher is also keen to promote the Key Skill of Communication,
albeit without a qualification. As we meet the teacher, she has
used a variety of methods to generate initial ideas, including
newspapers and other print materials, television and video programmes
and visiting speakers.
Specifically,
the teacher wants the pupils, during this phase of initial development
to:
- Gather
information from a variety of sources
- Evaluate
the validity of the sources of information
- Clarify,
analyse and progress the ideas of other artists
- Gather
and store information in a sketchbook which is useful for prepared
presentations and discussions
- Respond
in written and oral modes to the ideas of other artists
The
topics the teacher has selected for discussion are:
- The
times in which we live
- Personal
development
- Style
and fashion
Questions
for Consideration
- How
do you currently deal with this area of work in the classroom?
- Do
you use any ICT based methods to gather and present information,
and how do you manage use of these?
Keep
a short record of your responses to these questions for discussion
with your mentor.
