This approach could be used for full IT GCSE course, for GNVQ IT or other GNVQ courses when IT is used, and for A-level courses. It could also be used with KS3 pupils who are ready to embark on open-ended work, as long as the IT process and techniques required are familiar. The context for the work could be adapted to different real-life applications or to curriculum work in different subject.

To avoid overloading the pupils, ensure that if the context is unfamiliar to the learners, then they should use familiar IT techniques. With this in mind, think about how you would complete the grid on the following page, and discuss it with your mentor.
