Practical Applications

The Excel spreadsheet functions covered in this excercise can be applied to more applications. These could include:

Creating pupil reports/records: In a Workbook, one worksheet holds details of pupils' names and test or exam results. Another worksheet can then be used to collect together information for individual pupils ready for printing (analagous to the Invoice)

Checking School or Department Stock: This can be set up in a similar fashion to the Baglan Books scenario, where one sheet holds details of all the stock and other sheets can track the stock levels based on use.

Selling Tickets for School Concerts: This will help to keep track of the number of tickets sold against the number of seats available. It can then be developed into a profit/loss budget sheet, as data can be transferred and referenced between Workbooks as well as Worksheets.

Letters to parents/governors: Again analagous to the Invoice worksheet, specific data could be taken from a master worksheet, in preparation for a mail-merged document.
