There are a number of options for choosing resources for work on tessellations:

• Manipulatives such as plastic or card shapes
• Pre-drawn worksheets
• Manual drawing
• Computer graphics

Questions for Consideration

• Can you think of one advantage and one disadvantage for each of these resources?
• Can you think of any other resources that might be helpful? Use the World Wide Web to search for sites that may be useful for this topic.
• Are there any more advantages you can think of in using computer graphics?
• If you use non-ICT resources for working with shapes, would it be helpful for pupils to use ICT for other aspects of their investigations?
