b. Evaluating the Resources Used

The following questions should be applied to your use of the data-logging equipment, your use of the spreadsheet, and any attempt you made to put the two together:

  • Ease of use - pupils and teachers need to get straight from the ICT to the subject learning, without complex loading or other access issues.
  • Interactivity - pupils should as far as possible be able to gain an active rather than a passive relationship with the resource, and be able to control the source of information as well as handling the information itself.
  • Guidance - where more complex experimental and data-handling procedures are demanded, the resource should provide adequate instruction on how to do this.
  • Technical robustness - the resource should work under a variety of technical conditions.
  • Flexibility for use with other learners - any resource that you can use with a variety of learners under a variety of conditions will help you make most effective use of the limited time you have.

Questions for Consideration

  • How did the resources you used in following the work from the case study perform in relation to these criteria?
  • In this use of ICT, what Health and Safety aspects should be considered?

c. Adapting the Resources for Different Learners
