The
Mouse
The
mouse is basically a pointing device. Moving it around on the
desk moves around a pointer arrow (or cursor) on the screen.
The
mouse can have two or three buttons. Ordinarily, the left-hand
button is the one most commonly used. When the instructions ask
you to click, press the left-hand button once - this will select
an icon or object.
Double-clicking
means pressing the left-hand button in rapid succession, which
opens an object, eg. a program or file. The right-hand button
activates a context-specific menu which will be described later.
