Relational
Databases
Microsoft
Access - in common with most full-featured databases - has a facility
which can link different databases by key fields. For example,
a company may have a personnel database, sales database and a
payroll database. The common field between the personnel and sales
database could be an employee number, and between personnel and
payroll, the National Insurance number.
An
Estate Agent with a computerised system could have links between
databases with a housing list, area codes, buyers, vendors etc.
This type of system is called a Relational Database Management
System (RDBMS).
