Backing Up your Data

You can see that information stored in databases is not only sensitive but also vital to running for example, a business, hospital or public department efficiently. Any loss of data would cause serious problems. Most computerised databases today have a back-up system, which periodically saves data to tape, another hard drive or recordable CD.

When designing your own database you will find that as soon as you start Access it will ask you to name the database and save it to either 3½" floppy A drive or to the hard drive. From then onwards, unlike other software programs, databases save as you make additions or deletions to data in the records. So that it is not necessary to save periodically when you close Access.
