The
Access View of Databases
There
are two important aspects here:
Tables,
Queries and Forms within Access have a design and display mode
activated using the 'Design' and 'Open' buttons in the database
window.
Some
fields - eg. Area, Type, etc. are related to other tables by common
codes. These tables contain their full values and with the use
of lookup tables, the database becomes relational.
On
a more general note it is necessary to design a table, query,
report, etc. on paper before creating it on the computer. Often
a badly planned database will require amendment after data has
been entered and amending its design could cause loss of data.
