Slides
Slides
are the basic building block of a PowerPoint presentation, and
are the equivalent of a word processor page. Slides are created
within a 'show' that contains related slides. Each show can have
a 'master' (ie a template) providing a background onto which text
and data can be displayed. Slide backgrounds are available, either
preloaded, or created by the user.
Start
a new show by clicking the File menu, selecting New from the drop-down
menu, then choosing the Presentations tab. Click once on one of
the files to show a preview of how it appears or double-click
to use the design. Initially, the Blank Presentation should be
selected.
Creating
a New Slide
Go to the File menu and select New. In the New Presentation Window
that appears, click the General tab, then on Blank Presentation,
then OK. The New Slide dialog box appears in the window. Clicking
once on each of the slide icons will give a description of what
the slide is for.
To
create a demonstration slide, click on the slide type marked 'Bulleted
List' then click OK. Alternatively, double-click on the slide
icon itself. The following slide dialog box appears:
- Click
on the Title placeholder. Type in "My PowerPoint Presentation".
- Click
on the Text Placeholder. Type in your name.
- Save
your work.
