c. Helping Learners Develop their own IT Capabilities

This work gives considerable scope for introducing and practising techniques, which may not be very familiar to learners who have mostly used ICT for word processing. The teacher helped them to develop an understanding of an object, which can be selected, copied, deleted, moved and manipulated by dragging on its 'handles'.

With learners who already have these skills and concepts, more advanced techniques might be introduced, such as grouping a set of objects, which can then be manipulated as a single object. They also learned how to combine the images of tessellation's with text which explains them in the same document, and the value of this was discussed at the end.

Question for Consideration

  • Suppose you notice that a pupil is drawing every copy of the shape from scratch, rather than using copy/paste. How would you help him?
