Links with Literacy and Numeracy Strategies

Links will take place through concentrating on the relation between ICT and pedagogy in the execution of Literacy and Numeracy strategies. Links will be made between the teacher's acquisition of pedagogic capabilities using ICT, the available resources and materials to support literacy and numeracy and other key strategies, and the evaluation of the effects of ICT resources and materials in teaching and learning strategies.

Through the steering group, locally identified priorities will be factored into the training programmes of teachers.

Independent of the steering group but through the national agenda-setting organs of education, tutors will be encouraged to promote use of ICT to address issues within the debates on numeracy, literacy and the raising of standards.

Individual modules on using ICT to raise attainment standards in the top and bottom 20% of pupils will be available, as well as modules dealing with raising standards across the phase or subject.

Individual modules on using ICT to gather and evaluate data to address questions of attainment will be available.

The 'C'ommunications and the 'L'earning of Information Communications Technology and Information Learning Technology will be prioritised at all times, and the impact of the 'C' and the 'L' on teachers and students will form the focus of all work.
