Prior to Commencing the Task...

Consider the following:

  • where in the overall plan for the school year would the use of adventures or simulations be more appropriate?
  • which subject areas will be supported?
  • what are the desired teaching and learning outcomes?
  • are there alternative methods, other than a computer, which could be employed?
  • which type of adventure or simulation will be used?
  • will the adventure or simulation be appropriate to the ages and abilities of the pupils?
  • how will pupil groups be arranged?
  • what resources will be extracted for pupils to use within other packages - eg. a word processor?
  • what resources will pupils extract for their own use?
  • what type of focused tasks will be used in conjunction with the adventure or simulation?
  • what questions will be asked of pupils during and after the tasks?
  • how will pupils use previously extracted resources?
  • when will assessment take place? (During the task or through questioning pupils after the task?)
  • how will assessment influence future planning?
