Addressing
the Purpose and Key Requirements of Paragraphs
7 and 8
It is intended that paragraphs 7 and 8 of the specification documents
will inform the delivery of the training to the extent that training
will focus on the place and use of ICT in teaching and learning.
Approaches
to and Forms of Training
Training will be flexible in terms of start date, duration, mode
of work and evidence of competence. It will be individuated based
on Training Needs and Action Plans.
Training
in and out of School
Training will take place in the teacher's school, with opportunities
for training provided in flexible centres in the locality and
in schools in the teacher's local area.
Duration
of Training and Flexibility
It is expected that the average duration of programme will be
30 weeks in length. This will depend on the mix of modules
identified on an individual basis. Teachers will be able to start
on the programme on any one of three start events during the calendar
year. The programme will be flexible to accommodate the needs
of schools, departments and individuals.
Materials
- Shape, Style and Nature
All modules will be supported by on-line learning materials created
in Microsoft FrontPage and readable through any internet browser. Materials
will be provided to individual teachers on compact disc, and in
paper form for teachers not yet competent or confident to access
digital material.
Accounting
for Teachers' Priorities
The initial phase of training needs analysis and action planning
will take account of the priorities of teachers, schools and local
authorities.
Links
with Literacy and Numeracy Strategies
Links will take place through concentrating on the relation between
ICT and pedagogy in the execution of Literacy and Numeracy strategies. Links
will be made between the teacher's acquisition of pedagogic capabilities
using ICT, the available resources and materials to support literacy
and numeracy and other key strategies, and the evaluation of the
effects of ICT resources and materials in teaching and learning
strategies.
